One of our club projects on Sunday was to create a card using the baby wipe method.
Supplies: Medallion Stamp (115223 $17.95); Glossy White Card Stock; Melon Mambo Card Stock; Bermuda Bay Card Stock; Melon Mambo Re-Ink; Bermada Bay Re-inker; Organdy Ribbon; Rhinestone Brad
This is a pretty cool technique. You will need a paper plate and two baby wipes (the cheap one's from the dollar store will work). This technique works best with the glossy card stock but you can use the regular Whisper White for a totally different look.
- Place the diaper wipes on the paper plate
- Drop re-inker drops in 2 to 3 colors in a random pattern. Ink will spread. Make sure that the area is big enough to fit the stamp you will be using
- Place the stamp on baby wipes and press. Remember to only press the stamp in one direction. If you keep turning it around, you will muddy the colors
- Press the stamp on the glossy card stock
- Set aside – it will take a few minutes to dry
We also distressed ribbon using our heat guns. This is great technique to use on your heritage layouts. Simply lay your organdy ribbon down on a heat proof surface – I use a ceramic tile. Then use something to hold the end and start heating it. Remember to keep the heat gun moving – it will melt thru the ribbon. Be sure to let it cool for a couple of seconds before you touch – it will be hot.
That's it for tonight – hope everyone had a great First Day of School!
